Kid's Craft Highlights

| When working with children and crafts,
try to give them as much hands-on participation as
possible. Children are not fooled as easily as some
adults think they are. Even very young children know
when they are helped too much and then do not enjoy the
same sense of accomplishment as if they did the project on
their own. They are also not fooled by false praise.
So if you "ooow and aaaah" over every pathetic attempt,
when they finally do something well, your praise will be
ignored. Praise is good - but you don't have to say
it's the most beautiful (whatever) you have ever seen, you
can simply say that you can see that they put in a lot of
effort and praise their hard work, how much they have
improved or some small aspect of the project that seems to
have gone well. |
